Leonardo DiCaprio, an actor, is playing Rick Dalton, also an actor, in Quentin Tarantino’s Once Upon a Time in Hollywood. Brad Pitt is playing his stunt double, Cliff Booth. Or to hear Rick Dalton explain it in the first Once Upon a Time trailer: “Actors are required to do a lot of dangerous stuff. Cliff here is meant to help carry the load.” Cliff grins. “Carryin’ his load? Yeah that’s about right.” Once Upon a Time in Hollywood — it’s for the boys!
The year is 1969, and this duo cruises around town, hopefully avoiding Tinseltown’s trouble. Leo is so good at acting he moves himself to tears; Brad trains with Bruce Lee, Margot Robbie (playing Sharon Tate) is dancing, and Australian actor Damon Herriman is a smiling Charles Manson. (The other million very famous people in this movie don’t [yet] make an appearance.) After expressing apprehension with a movie dramatizing events surrounding Sharon Tate’s murder, her sister Debra Tate reportedly met with Tarantino and gave the movie her blessing. See it in theaters this July.
