Were you squinting at the almost unbelievably dark, crowded mêlée that was the Game of Thrones Battle of Winterfell last night and thinking to yourself, “Wait a minute, is that White Walker Chris Stapleton?” Well, congratulations! You’ve got the least applicable superpower in the world! According to Rolling Stone, the country-music star did the thing any reasonable famous person should be doing and landed himself a guest role in season eight’s “The Long Night” as a Wildling turned Walker. Considering they aren’t actors as such, Stapleton, his bassist J.T. Cure, and his tour manager got some on-set training to boot.

“They knew we weren’t actors,” the singer explained. “So the direction was basically, ‘We’re going to place you, and when we tell you to, open your eyes.’ And they trained us on how White Walkers are supposed to stand up and move when they’re first waking up. We had a crash course in that.” In case you couldn’t see, you know, anything during Sunday’s episode — let alone decipher which Chris Stapleton-looking warrior actually was Chris Stapleton — the musician’s wife captured his blink-and-you’ll-miss-it moment on-camera. Uh, spoiler ahead?
