Travis Scott might end up really needing the royalties from that Game of Thrones song, as Three 6 Mafia’s DJ Paul has filed a lawsuit against Scott for copyright infringement. Paul is claiming the Astroworld song “No Bystanders” is a ripoff of the group’s 1997 hit “Tear Da Club Up,” and, according to The Blast, Paul is seeking $20 million. The issue at hand appears to be the chant in the chorus, which Paul claims is “virtually identical and strikingly similar” to the hook from “Tear the Club Up.” While this might be arguable, Scott’s defense is not helped by the fact that he literally did perform “No Bystanders” as “tear the club up” at the 2019 Grammys for the censored television performance. Whoops.
