Annette Bening and Michelle Pfeiffer are following in the many footsteps of their fellow A-list actresses and signing up for a female-driven murder mystery. The pair have officially joined director Gideon Raff’s Turn of Mind, a film adaptation of Alice LaPlante’s 2011 New York Times best-selling novel of the same name.

Bening will reportedly play Dr. Jennifer White, a former orthopedic surgeon dealing with the onset of Alzheimer’s-related dementia. When her longtime friend (presumably Pfeiffer) Amanda O’Toole is found murdered, Jennifer must grapple with her own deteriorating memory to discover what she knows about Amanda’s death. Did Jennifer have a hand in the murder as the police claim, or is she being manipulated? Bening and Pfeiffer presumably came to the film by asking their reps, “What is the furthest thing from a Marvel Cinematic Universe film we can both find?”
