Billy Porter Had Broadway Actors Carry Him Into the Met Gala Because It’s Called Theater, Darling

All hail Billy Porter, for generally being amazing, and specifically for his arrival at the Met Gala last night, bedecked in gold, Ancient Egyptian–themed regalia (with a nod to camp icon Elizabeth Taylor) and carried aloft on a litter by a group of strapping men. Porter’s outfit comes courtesy of his stylist Sam Ratelle and designers The Blonds, while the men carrying him wore outfits by Nicolas Putvinski. As is fitting considering Porter’s career in the theater, they’re also all Broadway performers and dancers, and their names are Josh Drake (Aladdin), Taurean Everett (The Cher Show), Donald Jones Jr. (Frozen), Anton Lapidus (So You Think You Can Dance), Julius Anthony Rubio (Frozen), and Kellen Stancil (The Lion King). At this point, you might be wondering, do they have thirsty Instagrams? Wow, yes, that’s a good thing to wonder — and wow, yes, they do. Here they are.

Julius Anthony Rubio (Frozen)

He has a cute dog!

Taurean Everett

He loves The Legend of Zelda!

Kellen Stancil (The Lion King)

He’s a good uncle!

Josh Drake (Aladdin)

He enjoys interior decorating!

Anton Lapidus (So You Think You Can Dance)

He actually hasn’t been on Broadway but he does have a whole YouTube presence!

Donald Jones Jr. (Frozen)

He cooks!

Thank you, Billy Porter, for this moment of raising awareness.
