Peggy Lipton, actress and mother of Rashida and Kidada Jones, has died. She was 72. Lipton’s career spanned decades. She starred in The Mod Squad in the ’70s and played diner owner Norma Jennings on Twin Peaks. Lipton’s daughters made a joint statement to the Los Angeles Times. “She made her journey peacefully with her daughters and nieces by her side,” they told the Times. “We feel so lucky for every moment we spent with her.”
Lipton began her career on Bewitched in 1965. She was nominated for four Golden Globes for her role on The Mod Squad — winning one in 1971. Her most recent role was in A Dog’s Purpose. Lipton was married to musician and composer Quincy Jones for 16 years. She was reportedly battling colon cancer at the time of her death.
