Comedy Central’s New Series South Side Debuts in July

In addition to adding a late-night series hosted by David Spade and the return of Jimmy Kimmel’s Crank Yankers, Comedy Central dropped a new trailer for its upcoming series South Side today as well as the premiere date. Ordered to series in late 2017, the workplace comedy is set in the Chicago neighborhood of Englewood and follows two recent community-college grads who get stuck working at Rent-T-Own, “a retail-rental crossroads where the South Side’s vast ensemble of characters come together. Despite the obstacles of inner-city life, these friends and their co-workers all strive to achieve their entrepreneurial dreams.” The series is created by Late Night With Jimmy Fallon alums Bashir Salahuddin and Diallo Riddle, who also star in the series alongside Sultan Salahuddin and Chandra Russell. Season-one guest stars include Lil Rel Howery, Jeff Tweedy, Kel Mitchell, Nathaniel “Earthquake” Stroman, LisaRaye McCoy, and Ed Lover. The show debuts Wednesday, July 24, at 10:30 p.m.
