Donald Trump may be in the middle of a U.K. state visit rife with cat saboteurs, but even that isn’t enough to distract him from the existence of Bette Midler. Truly, so few things can. Ms. Midler had earlier shared a false quote that has been attributed to President Trump since the last election, but she then took the time to tweet out a correction once she had realized her mistake. But, if there’s one thing Donald Trump has taught us, it’s that for him the presidency is very much like any other boring office job: The only thing that makes it bearable is ignoring it to start Twitter feuds. So, the president responded to the apology by calling Midler a “washed up psycho,” because be best, everybody. Be best.
Update June 5, 2019: Midler responded to Trump’s attacks on Wednesday morning on Twitter, thanking those who came to her defense against “he who must not be named.” “As a newly washed up psycho,” she added. “I am very grateful for your thoughts and prayers.”
