Matthew Macfadyen on Just How Good Succession’s Writers Are

Actor Matthew Macfadyen stopped by Vulture’s Emmys Lounge and talked about Succession’s writers keeping the stars guessing and how the show’s genre is “slightly unclassifiable.” Macfadyen plays Tom Wamsgans, the nervous husband of Shiv Roy, the powerful daughter of a crass media mogul. “They managed to have these moments of real fast, sometimes real hilarity and black humor with it. And the next second,” Macfadyen says, “it sort of takes your legs away. It’s really moving and obsessing and ugly as well. Like life, you know — life is ludicrous, really, when you think about it.”
