Sandra Bullock must have had some outstanding college years, because they are about to be the inspiration for an Amazon show she’s developing with Akiva Goldsman and John Legend. According to the series description from Variety, it’s a “dramedy set in the world of music and dance. It will take place in the American Deep South in the 1980s, where one darkly off-beat young woman defies expectations and sets out in search of love, community, and an identity of her own.” The idea to do a whole show came about through conversations with Goldsman and Bullock, which is the kind of thing that can happen when you’re a well-connected Hollywood power player. Screenwriter Kevin Williamson — known for creating both Dawson’s Creek and Vampire Diaries as well as writing Scream — apparently encountered Bullock in this world of music and dance when he himself was in college, and he’s ready for this show.
