Adam Scott and Sanaa Lathan on the Enduring Appeal of The Twilight Zone

Adam Scott and Sanaa Lathan both star in episodes of Jordan Peele’s revived Twilight Zone, and ones that spin classic episodes on their head. Scott is the latest in a long line of men seeing gremlins on the side of planes, and Lathan’s episode is a police-brutality-inflected variation of “A Kind of a Stopwatch.” Growing up, both actors watched the show late at night. “Because they only had 30 minutes, they kind of got down to business,” Scott told the Vulture Emmys lounge. Peele’s Twilight Zone echoes the original Rod Serling version in that he’s using sci-fi to talk about social issues. “I love how this incarnation of Twilight Zone is taking on the caliber of writing,” said Lathan. “That’s what I love about Jordan Peele and his work, is that it’s so entertaining and it’s so kind of edge of your seat, but there’s always some kind of social commentary.”
