What Playing Pray Tell on Pose Has Taught Billy Porter

By

Billy Porter came by the Vulture Emmys lounge to discuss how his role on Pose put him closer in touch with the entire queer community. “Having been out for so long, the T in LGBT was largely absent in my sort of day-to-day consciousness.” The main thing he learned on the set of Pose was how interconnected every part of the acronym is. Porter plays Pray Tell on the show, an emcee in the drag scene where many trans people found each other. “What I’ve learned about the transgender community,” Porter says, is “how much a part of me they are, and I am a part of them.”
