Will Helen Mirren finally fulfill her dream of being a “mad driver in a Fast and Furious movie?” Fast & Furious 9, is currently filming in London, where Vin Diesel — the star, executive producer, and PR person, apparently — announced both Helen Mirren’s and Charlize Theron’s return to the franchise. “Week three, Fast 9. Here on set,” Diesel reports via Instagram vlog. “We’ve got a lot of the original cast here, including Oscar winners like Charlize Theron and Helen Mirren.” Theron and Mirren made their franchise debut in 2017’s The Fate of the Furious, but someone was a little furious that they didn’t let her burn rubber. “The whole reason for me wanting to be in Fast and Furious was because I wanted to drive,” Mirren told Entertainment Weekly in 2017. “I’d love to come back, but, guys, I want to drive next time.” No one puts Helen Mirren in the passenger seat. Hopefully she’ll see some behind-the-wheel action in Fast 9, coming in 2020.
