It’s here: the most important political summit to come out of the 2020 presidential race thus far. The full version of Bernie Sanders and Cardi B’s recent conversation is out! Sanders and his hand motions sat down with Cardi B at black-owned TEN Nail Bar in Detroit, discussing issues like student debt, health care, and police brutality, which you can watch in the video above.
The two have been friendly for some time, with Cardi B voicing her support for his campaign online. She came prepped with specific questions from her Instagram followers and channeled her inner news correspondent. The B stands for Barbara Walters. Sanders comes out swinging, saying that “Donald Trump is an overt racist,” explaining his plans for the presidency, including reestablishing DACA his first week in office, setting up universal health care, and canceling student debt using “modest” taxes on Wall Street speculation. Cardi B doesn’t say “okurrrrrr” or stick out her tongue because, again, business wig, but your girl did throw some shade. “Certain people like to brag that there’s more jobs now but it’s like, yeah, there’s an increase of jobs given but what are they paying?” she said, as Sanders backed her up. We imagine certain people will be tweeting a response to that any minute now. It’s safe to say they have the same least-favorite president, but they also share the same favorite: Cardi B wholesomely went on about Franklin D. Roosevelt and Sanders beamed at her with a father’s sense of pride. “Let’s feel the Bern,” Cardi laughed as the “Paid for by Bernie 2020” card rolled.
