Noah Baumbach, say sorry! Mr. Greta Gerwig’s new movie Marriage Story tells the story of a divorce between a stage director (large Adam Driver) and his actor wife (Scarlett Johansson), who share one son. In a pair of teaser trailers released Tuesday morning, we get to know the couple at their best: saying what they love about one another. Charlie loves that Nicole is playful, that she gives great presents, that she’s competitive; Nicole loves that Charlie dresses well, that he’s a good dad, that he’s competitive, too. Can two 80-second trailers really send a child of divorced parents into therapy? I’ll let you know!
First, Marriage Story from Charlie’s perspective, featuring Otis Redding singing “I’ve Been Loving You Too Long”:
And now, Marriage Story from Nicole’s perspective, featuring Cat Power’s cover of “I’ve Been Loving You Too Long”:
Whoopi Goldberg said marriage “wasn’t for her,” but Marriage Story looks extremely for us. See it in theaters and on Netflix this fall.
