Whether you’re pursuing your dream of becoming a designer, striving for musical stardom, or simply too gay for Broadway, New York exists for the young to make a name for themselves, and to have their pizza stolen by influencer vermin. In the first trailer for the CW’s new Riverdale spinoff, Katy Keene, Lucy Hale stars as the titular fashion-obsessed would-be personal shopper, while Ashleigh Murray’s Josie time-travels from Archie’s high school to Washington Square Park, where she immediately meets a dreamy star-maker played by Lucien Laviscount.
Rounding out the cast is Jonny Beauchamp’s Broadway hopeful Jorge, who roundly rejects a director’s suggestion he get “a little tough,” and Julie Chan’s sage Pepper. While there are no dead bodies or Gargoyle Kings so far, getting called a “gutter girl” to your face is pretty much the emotional equivalent when you’re in your early 20s, so the show’s got that going for it. Per the trailer, Katy Keene will premiere on the CW “soon.”
