The Morning Show Trailer: Steve Carell vs. Jennifer Aniston vs. Reese Witherspoon vs. The World

After what seems like eons of time in development, we finally have a glimpse of Reese Witherspoon and Jennifer Aniston’s morning news TV show, and, well, it sure looks moody! The Morning Show, which also stars Steve Carell as an anchorman, uses Brian Stelter’s book about the morning news wars as jumping-off point and “provides an inside look at the lives of the people who help America wake up in the morning, exploring the unique challenges faced by the women (and men) who carry out this daily televised ritual.” In the first full trailer, Jennifer Aniston attempts to regain control after ousting her co-anchor (played by Carell) and being usurped by Witherspoon’s Bradley Jackson (whose name sounds like a mom trying to remember who the main guy in A Star Is Born is). The newsroom struggles with honesty, integrity, and relevancy, like it’s a daytime spinoff of, well, The Newsroom. Mimi Leder (ER and The Leftovers) is onboard as a director, and Kerry Ehrin serves as showrunner. The Morning Show debuts on Apple TV+ this fall, so maybe it’s time for us all to figure out exactly how that will work.
