Tommy Shelby, the saddest man with the finest cheekbones on television, is coming back to Netflix in a fifth season of Peaky Blinders. The season finds Tommy, who’s risen from being a crime lord to serving in Parliament, entering a world thrown into chaos after the great financial crash of 1929, which just makes things even grittier than usual. “When Tommy Shelby MP is approached by a charismatic politician with a bold vision for Britain,” according to a Netflix release, “he realizes that his response will impact not only the future of his family but that of the entire nation.” There’s also, as you can see from the trailer above, a whole lot of crucifixion imagery going on. The new cast members joining the season include Sam Clafin as Oswald Mosley, Anya Taylor-Joy as Gina Gray, and Brian Gleeson as Jimmy McCavern. Peaky Blinders premieres on Netflix on October 4.
