What Gen Z Can Learn From Billie Eilish’s SNL Promo

If you’re a young Billie Eilish fan who has no idea what older SNL fans mean when they reference obscurities like “the Ebersol years” (What?) or “Woody Harrelson” (Who?!), get ready for some SNL 101. After a whole lot of waiting and just a little bit of drama, Saturday Night Live returns to NBC this weekend with the premiere of its 45th season, and the show released an educational promo today to get you excited. Woody Harrelson is returning to host the show for the fourth time (he last hosted back in 2014), while The Office superfan Billie Eilish will be making her musical-guest debut. In the promo, Harrelson gives SNL newbie Eilish a first day of school–style tour of the SNL offices and studio so she can start to learn what the heck she’s gotten herself into. Naturally, Colin Jost and Michael Che are jock bullies, the recently promoted Heidi Gardner is running for class president, and longtime cast member Kenan Thompson is a new guy named Jason. (Condolences to Melissa Villaseñor for not landing a role in this promo.) Catch the rest when the show returns to NBC this weekend, followed by upcoming hosts Phoebe Waller-Bridge, David Harbour, Kristen Stewart, and — later in the year — former SNL cast member Eddie Murphy.
