First question, out the gate, before Kanye West has even found his footing onstage, Jimmy Kimmel needs to know: “When is this album coming out?” Kanye, looking like he absolutely stole the cookie from the cookie jar, slowly says, “Oh, it’s out now.” Clearly a lie. What was he going to do if Jimmy pulled out his Apple Music? After fans waited all night for Kanye’s new album, Jesus Is King, he finally tweeted at around 1 a.m. ET, saying that they were fixing mixes on three songs: “Water,” “Follow God,” and “Everything We Need.” “We are not going to sleep until this album is out!” he added. Better not! To paraphrase Tanisha Thomas from Bad Girls Club, “I ain’t get no sleep ’cause of Kanye? Kanye not gon’ get no sleep ’cause of me.”
For the rest of his appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live! Kanye spoke about his relationship to God as a father, as a musician, and as a millionaire. “I’m just a Christian everything,” he says. On Friday night, Kanye will allegedly be back in Brooklyn to perform a song from Jesus Is King on Kimmel. Prayers up.
