My Chemical Romance Is Coming to Save 2019 With a Reunion Show

Some of us have thought about My Chemical Romance every day since the band’s 2013 split, while others may have (sadly) banished the scene-kid icons from their consciousness until yesterday, when we learned that frontman Gerard Way is Joe Rogan’s cousin. That was already 100 percent more My Chemical Romance news than we’re used to these days, making today’s announcement a real treat: After approximately 2,413 days of our waiting, the band is reuniting for a show. That’s right: exactly one night (that we know of) of emo wish-fulfillment on December 20, 2019, at L.A.’s Shrine Expo Hall. Buy your tickets tomorrow at noon Pacific Time before they sell out, and just as important, buy a fresh eyeliner before those sell out too. That goes for you too, Cousin Joe.

To give credit where it’s due, we must thank another Joe: Joe Jonas, the polar opposite of a My Chemical Romance member, who first hinted at a possible MCR reunion this summer. “My Chemical Romance apparently were rehearsing next to us in New York recently, which I thought they broke up, so I don’t know,” he told the U.K.’s Kiss FM breakfast show in June. Although MCR guitarist Frank Iero shot down the comments at the time, we know the truth now. And with the hell year that was 2019 coming to a close, they couldn’t have picked a better time. We are not afraid to keep on living, anymore.
