The Jonas Brothers clearly all drew straws this weekend, and Nick Jonas has emerged the victor. According to NBC, the singer will join The Voice as a coach when the network’s musical competition show returns for its eighteenth season in the spring of 2020. He’ll work alongside his fellow coaches Kelly Clarkson, John Legend and Blake Shelton, as well as host Carson Daly, to help foster and/or destroy the life-long dreams of the nation’s vocally talented. “I’m so excited to be a part of The Voice family,” he said in a statement. “It’s such an awesome group of individuals, and I can’t wait to help these artists really build and hone in to find their unique voices.”

The world found out about Nick’s new gig the way it finds out about all our important pop culture news: in a heartfelt announcement, just before a crude facsimile of Voice costar Blake Shelton leapt from his hiding place inside a box on the set of Ellen Monday, a moment you can enjoy below.
