Here’s An All-New Episode of Zoey’s Extraordinary Playlist

“Good music can make you feel things you can’t express in words.” At least, that’s the heart behind a certain melodic drama that recently premiered its debut episode on NBC. Zoey’s Extraordinary Playlist tells the story of Zoey Clarke, a San Francisco-based computer coder who experiences a particularly unusual life change — suddenly, everyone around her starts expressing their innermost thoughts by singing. Pop songs. Out loud. We love a musical moment as much as the next, and this new series is about as unexpected as it gets. And in an even more unexpected turn of events, you can watch the all-new episode right here, right now.

Zoey’s Extraordinary Playlist stars Jane Levy, Skylar Astin, Alex Newell — Broadway fans rejoice! — and everyone’s favorite TV mom, Lauren Graham, playing not the mom. In fact, her role as Zoey’s no-nonsense boss might make Emily Gilmore proud, dare we say.

The high-concept show, at its core, is a heartwarming tale of love, family, and expression. But it presents as something of another universe — stretching the mind muscles to a level of whimsical, dance-worthy life. In the pilot, you’ll hear everything from hip-hop anthems to low-key classics — basically what’s on our extraordinary commute playlists — as you realize with each surprising belt from the talented cast that most Hollywood actors probably started in a high school choir room.

Watch for yourself below, and add Zoey’s Extraordinary Playlist to your 2020 watch list for more dance breaks and potential heartbreaks. (Spoiler alert: The love interest has historically perfect pitch.)

Watch Zoey’s Extraordinary Playlist Sundays at 9/8c on NBC beginning February 16.
