Caleb Hearon Knows the Secret to Good Brownies

Thanks to the coronavirus, comedians are now trapped at home like the rest of us, so we decided that while we’re all self-quarantining, we’d do something a little different from our usual “Follow Friday” column. Instead of interviewing up-and-coming comedians we love on Twitter, we’re going live on Instagram every week to check in on some of our favorite people in comedy to get a firsthand look into how they’re handling the pandemic. So welcome to our new version of the column, now titled “Follow (From a Safe Distance) Friday.”

This week, I swindled Caleb Hearon (Comedy Central, FX’s Fargo, gossiping with his co-worker on Twitter) into a conversation about how he’s keeping it together even though we’re all stuck at home for the foreseeable future. He broke down how he’s feeling about planning and executing a cross-country move during a global pandemic, gave us his insights on what the decline of Big Comedy™ means for the future of comics, and told us about his favorite episode of Law and Order: SVU (it’s the one where Ludacris plays Ice-T’s stepson). He even shared some expert cooking tips that he’s learned over the years: “Hunny, you have to put mayo in your brownies.”

You can find Caleb on Instagram and on Twitter at @calebsaysthings.
